GAMING
HISTORY AND INDUSTRY
Þ
The gaming industry is a modern industry with
gets large profits. The audience changes over time and in different genres,
another thing, which is constantly changing, is the technological side of things
games are constantly being out-dated, as their updates are so frequent. Commonly
games are made in to franchises so that they can release spin offs with out thinking
of a completely new idea they already have their game, which already has an audience,
where the spinoffs and sequels will automatically appeal to even if they are
not much different than the original. An example of a franchise would be Mario which
has many spin offs from it like Mario cart and Mario galaxy, Mario has multiple
different games using the same recognisable characters in them.
Þ
The gaming community are regulated by PEGI which
is responsible of going over the content of the games to then give them a
rating so the games which have more graphic violence and other things which may
not be appropriate for younger audiences. An example of a game which has a high
rating would be GTA in this game it gives the player free will to do what ever they
want and is commonly criticised for its excessive use of violence, in this game
players can kill prostitutes and innocent people run people over commit crimes
such as drug running and lots of other things which are socially unacceptable
in the real world and everyday society. It gives people an escape from real life
but still seems like it is real because of the graphics etc.
